I'm happy with my start. Of course, so much of it seems like drivel with an occasional great sentence/metaphor/phrase.
I had to skip writing on Monday. Totally wiped out from helping a friend move her needlework shop.
But I've caught up some. As of yesterday, I was 587 words short. With luck, I'll make that up today.
I had some realizations. One: I wish I could write by talking out during long car trips. There's something about being in a car that for boring rides that set my mind on the correct path. I'm trying to recreate that while sitting at the computer. Not totally working, but things are better than last year.
Two: Show it, don't tell it. Argh. The whole beginning is crap. I think the tense is off or something as I tried to set up the backstory which is essential.
Three: Haven't had any character surprise me yet. But there's something bubbling under the surface and I think my major theme is about to be hijacked. Like totally.
Four: Write or Die. Terrific website. Made those last 500 words possible the other night.
